Mini-grid siting · KFL-M 1.5
Where flared gas could power a mini-grid
Every flare site in the tracker, screened as a place to build a gas or hybrid solar and gas mini-grid. Each site is scored on five terms the tracker already holds: how many people nearby lack grid access, how much power the flared gas could make, how large the nearest demand centre is, the security record around the site, and the solar resource. Every figure is an estimate, and the screen is a starting list for site visits, not a bankability finding.

Figures above are for the Niger Delta scope and screened-in sites only. Each figure is derived from the site records below.
Niger Delta and national
The GFMR site set is almost all in the Niger Delta. The national figures add the offshore sites (screened out, since their gas would need a line to shore) and the one site outside the nine states.

How a site is scored
Each term scores 0 to 100. The siting score is their weighted mean. A site is screened in only if it also passes four gates: it is onshore, its gas could fuel at least 0.1 MW, at least 1,000 people within 10 km are without access, and no more than 2 attacks on energy infrastructure were recorded within 10 km since 2015. The best-scoring site leads an opportunity, and screened-in sites within 20 km of it, whose 10 km circles overlap, join it.
