Open-data flare verification · Niger Delta
Nigeria's first transparent flare tracker.
Every flare site on this map is attributed to an operator and given a verdict — verified or unverified, penalty due, methane-equivalent lost, trend — with the detection floor and uncertainty stated on each record. Built on cited open data: World Bank GFMR / NOAA VIIRS Nightfire (June 2026 release), and the Flare Gas (Prevention of Waste and Pollution) Regulations, 2018 — penalties shown at both the $2.00 and $0.50 tiers, because we do not hold production rates. Operator compliance
Penalty basis: Flare Gas (Prevention of Waste and Pollution) Regulations, 2018 (S.I. No. 9 of 2018), Reg. 13: US$2.00 per 1,000 scf (28.317 m³) where 10,000 bbl of oil per day or more is produced, US$0.50 where less. We do not hold production rates, so every penalty is shown at both tiers (upper / lower bound); no midpoint is used. ₦ figures are indicative at one FX snapshot and are never official NUPRC assessments. Watchlist
Derived from the site record in your browser. “Rising” needs both the chosen percentage and at least 0.5 million m³ added, so a big percentage on a tiny base doesn't qualify. Select a site to open it on the map. Thresholds
